As Vice President Budget & Finance, Virginia Edwards is responsible for leading the charge to generate necessary financial support. After graduating from Bastrop High School in 1976 she worked for over 25 years in a local Bastrop Pharmacy before getting married and relocating to Washington, DC. In Washington, DC she was actively involved in community and economic development serving as special assistant to the Chairman of the elected Advisory Neighborhood Commission and was assistant to the Vice Chairman of the DC Democratic Party. She was an Alternate Page in the 2012 Democratic National Convention where she met President Barak Obama. Virginia's commitment to the cause of Whispering Pines stems from personal connections, as many of her close family members are interred in the cemetery. Since returning to Bastrop in 2022, Virginia has been dedicated to restoring the cemetery and regaining access. She believes that no one deserves to be treated so inhumanely and vows that she will not stop until this wrong has been made right.
